Auf dem Foto ist mein Großvater väterlicherseits in Venedig zu sehen.

Dank Internet und Karten konnte leicht herausgefunden werden, dass er im Moment der Aufnahme die Treppe der Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute hinaufsteigt. Die Fotografin oder der Fotograf, wahrscheinlich war es meine Großmutter, hat touristisch korrekt den Campanile gegenüber miteingefangen. Dieser verschwindet hinter dem Palazzo Barozzi Emo Treves de Bonfili und dem Palazzo Giustinian und man sieht nur noch die Spitze des Turms.

Der Bildaufbau hat irgendwie etwas Dramatisches, da es nur noch drei Stufen bis ins Nichts sind.
Zum Glück kam mein Großvater der Sonne nicht zu nahe und lebte noch viele Jahre. Ich gehe dabei davon aus, dass das Foto in den 1950ern oder 1960ern aufgenommen wurde.

The photo shows my paternal grandfather in Venice.

Thanks to the internet and maps, it was easy to find out that he was climbing the stairs of the Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute at the moment the photo was taken. The photographer, it was probably my grandmother, correctly captured the Campanile vis-a-vis.
